Selena Marie Gomez, /s@'li?n@ /goUmez/s@-LEEn@ GOHmez, was born on the 22nd of July 1992. She is an American actress, performer, and producer. Gomez started her acting career in 2002 when she appeared on the TV show for children called Barney & Friends. She gained fame for her role as Alex Russo, a teenage actor on the Disney Channel television show Wizards of Waverly Place (2007-12). Gomez also appeared in several films which include Another Cinderella Story (2008) and Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie (2010). She also starred in Ramona and Beezus (2010) as well as Spring Breakers (2012). She was also a voice actor on Mavis in Hotel Transylvania (2012-2022). Gomez was the executive producer of the Netflix television series 13 Reasons Why (2017-2020) and Living Undocumented (2019) through her production company, July Moon Productions. She also executive produces and is a star in the HBO Max cooking series Selena + Chef (2020-2022) as well as the Hulu comedy show Only Murders in the Building (2021-present). Gomez received critical praise for the latter, and also nominations for an Golden Globe Award and a Primetime Emmy Award. Gomez's sophomore studio album Revival (2015) which debuted at the top of the charts in the US and was certified platinum by RIAA and was followed by three US top-ten entries: "Good for You", "Same Old Love", "Hands to Myself". Her third studio album, Rare (2020), was her third consecutive top one album in the US and featured the lead track, "Lose You to Love Me", the first single to reach number one across the US and Canada. In 2021, she released the Spanish-language EP Revelacion in which she received a nomination for the Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album.
